Rigor is a concept that is frequently mentioned and often misunderstood. This module allows participants to explore and define academic rigor and to examine how the elements of WICOR—Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading—can be used independently and in combination with one another to increase students’ access to rigorous learning experiences. Through engaging in a virtual classroom visit, participants will be able to observe the intersection between rigor and WICOR and reflect on the impact on student learning. Finally, participants will apply their learning as they plan a rigorous lesson of their own and then give and receive effective feedback about the lessons planned. Participants will experience the focused note-taking process as they process their learning throughout the session.
